Culture of Fear II The man standing upright at the podium
Finger pointing stiffly outward in rage
Says to me, "They are coming for you"
And by "They" he means someone else
Even as he is pointing through a TV

The man standing upright at the pulpit
Depicted as a monument to the grace of God
He calls for the righteous to muster
As his wire prompts to do what must be done
I listen to the words of mass destruction and shudder

I dreamed one night of a terrible battle
With a gun in hand I stalked the ashen streets
I told myself as I fired that I fought for freedom
For justice my enemy perished, for God I killed a man
But in every pair of sightless eyes I
Culture of Fear Beckoning me to be like everyone else
For is it not objectionable to be different
To be young forever must we not look
Clean, smooth, empty of expression
Of age, of time, of careworn efforts

We must fear anyone different than ourselves
Do not trust the stranger, do not try to see
The sameness of our human bodies and desire
Do not believe the different one may understand
What it is like to be just like yourself

Where was it written in my historical gene
That I must worry over race and dress
Style and language, nationality and creed
And that I cannot be accepting of those
Who differ, and cannot they accept me

    i.   I live within a wonderful place
         Showing the world my pixilated face
         Surrounded by beauty created
         The people in my social circles
         Written typeface, airbrush painted

    ii.  I live on tea and alcohol
         Box meals cooked or not at all
         The sole life here
         My potted plant
         "Come out" they cry and yet I can't

    iii. A lovely life you'll never find
         Before the screen, on your behind
         "Come out before you waste away"
         I tried it once, I must reveal
         I played the game, it wasn't real

Alexsi

I missed the chance to tell her
Just how much I cared
A smiling golden Puma
Her time she always shared

I always said I'd return home
To the beauty of Lost Lake
And when I did she'd call my name
And invite me to partake

Of the laughter at her table
And all the furries there
And we'd laugh until I left again
Lighter without my care

But time it runs on fleeting feet
Chance is lost to sieze the day
The last time I came to the lake
I found that 'Lexsi passed away

So I watch the ripples cross the Lake
And leave behind the empty shore
Without her home won't be the same
As it was in smiling days of yore

In Memorium - Alexsi Athenis, August 23, 2004.

Alexsi was the Rah of a Furcadian hang out, Lost Lake. I am not certain of all details, but I believe her to have been the founder of that location (or dream as they are known). Within Lost Lake, Alexsi was ever gracious, ever friendly and concerned with each and every person that came within her realm. She greeted everyone she saw enter by name, and did her best to welcome all with friendly conversation.

I will never know the mun behind the furre, though I spoke with her by ICQ over several occassions. She was always genunine happy to see me when I came calling, and I shall miss her, and miss knowing there would always be someone waiting upon my return.

Gods Bless you Alexsi, wherever you have gone.

indeed very good. i was blessed enough to get to talk with her less then a month before she died if i could every trust me memory less then 2 weeks.. she was always special to a great many. She will be waiting for us i am sure.

There's a sort of memorial project in the works, and they're looking for submissions. I don't know if it will ever get enough to get off the ground, but the link is here, if you're interested. In case you hadn't heard of it already. I don't know if you occupy the DMFA forums or not.

No, I didn't occupy the forum, but I've already spoken to Graelin. And thanks for the comment. You wouldn't be interested in producing a picture of her hammer leaning against something would you? I thought at first a grave marker, but I wonder if a "Lost Lake" sign wouldn't be more appropriate?
